Glide Video Texting App Surpasses 3.5 Million Downloads; Users Sending 12 Million Seconds of Video Messages Daily
Glide sees 5X growth in messages sent, as average session length jumps to over 3 minutes
JERUSALEM, July 31, 2013 – Glide (www.glide.dev), the original video texting app that’s shaking up the messaging space, has for the first time revealed statistics that demonstrate phenomenal success in both user acquisition and engagement since it launched a short while ago for iOS and Android.
Key metrics from July include:
- 5X increase in video sent since the start of the month, with users sending about 12 million seconds of private messages daily
- Average session length rose 100% to over 3 minutes
- Daily video watched grew by 500% with over 15 million seconds of video watched daily
- Daily active users (unique users who used the app on a given day) grew by 120%
- Glide’s user retention averaged 15% higher than similar leading communication apps, according to Flurry Analytics
Glide allows users to send and receive private video messages that are simultaneously broadcast live to users online and stored to the cloud for on-demand viewing at any time. Glide’s proprietary technology makes communication much faster and simpler than sending a video message as an attachment, and more convenient than video calling, as chats don’t need to be scheduled in advance and users don’t need to wait until their friends are available to start a conversation.
“The fact that 70% of video is viewed live, in real-time, proves the success of our breakthrough product in addressing the market demand for truly instant messaging,” says Ari Roisman, Glide’s CEO. “We believe that we’re witnessing a paradigm shift in the way people use video to communicate, and we’re delighted to be pioneers of this exciting new space.”
Glide also announced the launch of video message sharing, a feature that users have demanded since launch. The new feature enables Glide users to forward messages to each other, and to export videos created to the web and share across social media channels like Facebook and Twitter.
Founded in Jerusalem in May 2012, Glide is the brainchild of Ari Roisman, Jonathan Caras and Adam Korbl – three young entrepreneurs who live thousands of miles from many of their family and friends. Frustrated by the difficulties keeping in touch across time zones, the trio created a new way to communicate.
Glide consistently ranks in the Top 100 in the App Store, and reached Top 6 Overall shortly after launching cross-platform on iOS and Android in June 2013.
